POSITION OVERVIEW

Methods Machine tools seeks a pre-sales proposal engineer to create sales proposals per sales requests for customer needs. Assist in the design and development of manufacturing processes to achieve customer’s goals and expectations on test cuts, training programs, product development, trade shows and turnkey applications using state of the art CNC machining equipment and secondary operations.

responsibilities

  • Prepare time studies and machining process recommendations.
  • Prepare turnkey proposals.
  • Travel to customer sites for sales support in presentation of sale proposals. Overnight stays are required in some instances.
  • Identify and understand customer requirements and concerns and come to mutually beneficial resolutions.
  • Keep abreast of technological information that will provide leading technology to our customers, suppliers and assist others to resolve problems.
  • Lead development projects to enhance our products offered.
  • Show an awareness of competitors and effectively identify gaps and benchmarks.
  • Assist in the integration of Engineering Services, such as machine tool and automation projects.
  • Manage the research and design of fixtures and tooling.
  • Supervise the modification of fixtures and tooling as required.
  • Identify and purchase commercial items for projects.
  • Ensure that machines, work area and common work areas are maintained in a neat and professional manner.
  • Provide phone support to customers, both internal and external.
  • Log call details for future reference (ServiceNOW Demands)
  • Track all time utilizing the ServiceNOW system.
  • Track all purchases utilizing the CSI system.
  • Report to management on any progress, delays or issues and provide an action plan to resolve constraints.
  • Generate and maintain documentation for each area of responsibility listed above.
  • Maintain industry standard risk assessment and safety protocols are followed in project development and build.
  • All other duties as required to support the team and organization.

qualifications

  • General machining knowledge.
  • Knowledge in math, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimension & Tolerance and Quality practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • CAD / CAM knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally within all levels of the organization and with customers.
  • Ability to make quick decisions in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Ability to lead effectively and with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to use inspection tools such as indicators, micrometers, and CMM’s.
  • Be results oriented.
  • Ability to set and meet both team and personal goals.
  • Ability to solicit and accept feedback, implementing changes where necessary.
  • Ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Resolve conflict and issues.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.

travel

  • 10% overnight travel to support sales personnel with presenting proposals, sometimes out of the country to Canada and Mexico.

education

  • College diploma preferred
