ABOUT THE ROLE

This position will be responsible for developing processes, assembly instructions, and work instructions for the integration of value-added options (chip management systems, high-pressure coolant systems, work holding tables, mist collection units, etc.) and associated equipment on a variety of CNC machine tool platforms.

  • Facilitate installation of new options with Production team and document.
  • Daily responsibilities will require close coordination and collaboration with team members from Production and the Applications Engineering department to develop processes and work instructions to install equipment effectively and in a repeatable manner.
  • This position may be required to occasionally work outside of their normal work schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consistently follow and reinforce all safety and work procedures and immediately notify management of any safety or product/process quality issues.
  • Develop procedures, assembly guides, and work instructions for the efficient and reliable set-up and installation of CNC machine tool platforms and  associated options and kits.
    • The focus of this position is for electro-mechanical and controls systems including documentation of physical installation and integration of mechanical interfaces, hydraulics, and pneumatics as well as electronic control devices, wiring harnesses, connectors, and robotics/automation  interfaces.
    • Take complex and often specialized information and adapting it into a format that is easy to understand; Processes and work instructions must be effective for both factory and field installation.
  • Perform installations, identify installation hurdles, and work with Production, Service, and Applications Engineering to develop solutions.
  • Drive Lean Six Sigma philosophies across Production including:
    • Develop Standard Work for each machine platform and associated options
    • Conduct time studies
    • 5S principles in support of an efficient, clean, and safe work area
    • Leverage Poke Yoke and Visual Management to reduce defects and errors
  • Create or update detailed drawings of options and designed components using Solid Works CAD software.
  • Promote and  support ISO 9001:2015 certification across the organization:
    • Conduct internal audits to verify that process are working and identify opportunities for improvement
    • Lead continual improvement projects to enhance product quality/process efficiency.
    • Collect and analyze process data and present data in a meaningful way. Propose and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Perform other appropriate tasks and duties as assigned.
